Understanding Payment Responsibility and Account Access:
Payment Responsibility - Who Is Liable?
BuildStability uses Direct Charges for all client payments. This means:
✅ **YOU (Connected Account) Are Responsible For:**
All Payment-Related Issues:
- Disputes and Chargebacks - You must respond to and handle all payment disputes - Refunds - You are responsible for processing refunds to clients - Failed Payments - You handle payment failures and retry logic - Payment Fraud - You are liable for fraudulent transactions - Negative Balances - You are responsible for any negative account balances - Tax Obligations - You receive your own 1099s and handle tax reporting - Compliance - You must maintain account verification and compliance
What This Means:
- Payments go directly to your Stripe connected account - Funds settle directly to your bank account - You have full control over your Stripe processing - You are the merchant of record for all client transactions
✅ **BuildStability (Platform) Has NO Liability For:**
- Stripe processing issues - Disputes or chargebacks - Refund requests - Failed payments - Payment fraud - Your account balance or payouts
What This Means:
- BuildStability does not touch your funds - BuildStability does not handle disputes or chargebacks - BuildStability acts as a facilitator only - You have full responsibility for payment operations
How Payments Work
Payment Flow:
1. Client pays for your service through BuildStability 2. Payment is processed directly on your Stripe connected account 3. Funds settle directly to your bank account 4. You receive payout according to your Stripe payout schedule
Important: All payments are processed using Direct Charges, meaning: - The charge appears on your Stripe account, not BuildStability's - You are the merchant shown on client statements - You handle all customer service related to payments - You manage disputes and chargebacks through your Stripe account
Accessing Your Stripe Connect Standard Account
Method 1: Direct Dashboard Access
Note: With Standard accounts, you have full Stripe Dashboard access - this is a complete Stripe account, not a limited Express account.
Step 1: Get Your Account ID
1. Log into BuildStability 2. Go to Business → Membership Plans tab 3. Find your Stripe account ID (starts with `acct_`) 4. Copy the account ID
Step 2: Access Your Dashboard
1. Go to: `https://dashboard.stripe.com/[YOUR_ACCOUNT_ID]/dashboard` 2. Replace `[YOUR_ACCOUNT_ID]` with your actual account ID 3. Example: `https://dashboard.stripe.com/acct_1SUh0lATsm3mJYMj/dashboard`
Step 3: Log In
- You'll be prompted to log in with the email you used during onboarding - If you don't have access, check your email for Stripe login credentials
Method 2: Through Organization Settings
If you have multiple Stripe accounts:
1. Log into your main Stripe Dashboard 2. Click on your account/organization switcher (top left) 3. Look for your connected account in the list 4. Click on it to switch to that account's dashboard 5. You'll see "Express" settings and platform connection details
Method 3: Email Link
Stripe sends you:
- Welcome email with dashboard access link - Account verification emails with login links - Payout notifications with account access
Check your email (the one you used during onboarding) for Stripe emails containing dashboard links.
What You Can Do in Your Express Dashboard
Payment Management:
- ✅ View all transactions and payments - ✅ See pending and completed payouts - ✅ Check your account balance - ✅ View payment history
Dispute Management:
- ✅ Respond to disputes and chargebacks - ✅ Upload evidence for disputes - ✅ Track dispute status - ✅ Handle refund requests
Account Settings:
- ✅ Update bank account information - ✅ Change payout schedule - ✅ Update business information - ✅ Manage tax information - ✅ View account verification status
Customer Management:
- ✅ View customer list - ✅ See subscription details - ✅ Manage payment methods - ✅ View invoices and receipts
Products & Services:
- ✅ View products created through BuildStability - ✅ See prices and subscription plans - ✅ Check product metadata
Important Notes
Account Type:
- Your account is a Standard Stripe Connect account connected to BuildStability - This is a full Stripe account with complete dashboard access - Standard accounts give you full control as the merchant of record - You have complete access to all Stripe features and your own dashboard
Platform Connection:
- You can see your connection to BuildStability in organization settings - The connection shows BuildStability as the platform - You cannot disconnect from the connected account side (must be done through BuildStability)
Security:
- Use the same email you used during onboarding - Enable two-factor authentication for security - Keep your login credentials secure - Contact Stripe Support if you lose access
Getting Help
For Payment Issues:
- Log into your Stripe Dashboard (full Standard account access) - Check the Payments section for transaction details - Review Disputes section for any chargebacks - Contact Stripe Support directly
For Account Access Issues:
- Check your email for Stripe login credentials - Try password reset through Stripe - Contact Stripe Support if you can't access your account - Provide your account ID (starts with `acct_`)
For BuildStability Issues:
- Contact BuildStability support via email: support@buildstability.com - Use the Contact Support button in the Help modal - Check this help section - Verify your account is connected in Business → Membership Plans
