Tax Codes for Services

What are Tax Codes? Tax codes tell Stripe how to calculate taxes for your services. BuildStability automatically selects the correct tax code based on your service type, but you can override it if needed.

Automatic Tax Code Selection:

Memberships → "Fitness Centers - Dues and Membership Fees" (txcd_50021001) • Packs → "Fitness Centers - Single Use Access Fees" (txcd_50021101) • Passes → "Fitness Centers - Single Use Access Fees" (txcd_50021101)

Why Tax Codes Matter:

• Stripe Tax uses tax codes to calculate correct tax rates • Different service types may have different tax treatments • Tax codes ensure accurate invoicing and receipts • Compliance with local tax regulations

Changing Tax Codes:

1. When creating or editing a service, expand "Tax Code" section 2. Use the quick selection table for common codes 3. Or search for specific tax codes by name or code 4. Select the appropriate tax code for your service 5. Changes are saved to Stripe immediately

Membership Dues (txcd_50021001) - For recurring memberships • Personal Training/Classes (txcd_50021003) - For training sessions • Single Use Access (txcd_50021101) - For packs and passes • Sport Instruction (txcd_50021103) - For specialized instruction • General Services (txcd_20030000) - Fallback option

Advanced Users:

• Search functionality helps find specific tax codes • All tax code changes are logged in Audit Trail • Tax codes are stored on Stripe Product objects • Can be updated anytime without affecting existing subscriptions

Best Practices:

• Use automatic defaults unless you have specific tax requirements • Consult with a tax professional for complex tax situations • Keep tax codes consistent across similar services • Review tax codes when expanding to new regions
